Rada pre vysielanie a retransmisiu (Council for Broadcasting and Retransmission)
It is a public body, a member of the European Platform of Regulatory
Authorities (EPRA).
Its prerogatives with regard to advertising are far reaching. Apart
from monitoring of advertising being broadcasted, the Council may
impose fines on broadcasters of material found in breach of the law.
Self-regulation bodies
Rada Pre Reklamu (RPR) (Advertising Standards Council)
RPR was established in March 1995. It has been set up and funded by the advertising industry to apply code and rules regulating advertising content. It receives complaints for investigation, and in case the complaint is upheld, the advertiser will be requested to withdraw or amend the advertisement. The Slovak Advertising Standards Council has elaborated a Code of Ethical Principles of Advertising Practise in Slovakia, which has been regularly updated. The Slovak Advertising Standards Council includes 16 members.
RPR is a member of EASA (European Advertising Standards Alliance).
