Országos Rádió és Televízió Testület (National Radio and Television Commission)
It is a public body composed of delegates of political parties, nominated by the Parliament. One of the major roles of the Commission is the supervision of media. The Commission has powers to impose fines and interrupt broadcasting.
Self-regulation bodies
Magyar Reklámszövetség (MRSZ) (Hungarian Advertising Association)
Formed in 1975, MRSZ is a tripartite body representing the common interests of advertisers, media owners and agencies. Today, with its 1000 individual and 500 corporate members it is the leading advertising organization of the country.
Önszabályozó Reklám Testület (Advertising Self-regulatory Body)
ÖRT is a tripartite organisation in which representatives of the media, advertisers and agencies take part. It is set up and funded by the advertising industry to apply code and rules regulating advertising content. The SRO receives complaints for investigation, and in case the complaint is upheld, the advertiser will be requested to withdraw or amend the advertisement.
ÖRT is a member of EASA (European Advertising Standards Alliance).
