A press release published on 24 July in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology by the European Society of Cardiologists (ESC) argues that measures including a marketing ban of “junk food” could reduce unnecessary deaths from cardiovascular disease by up to 50%. Importantly, the authors believe that governments should take up preventive measures to influence people’s food choices at an early age.
