Dr. Chris Pole
Profile
Chris Pole is Reader in Sociology in the Department of Sociology at
the University of Leicester, UK. His current research interests are in
the Sociology of Childhood and the Sociology of Education. At present
Dr Pole is working with colleagues in the department on a study which
examines the significance of clothing and fashion in children’s
lives. The study, funded by ESRC forms part of the Cultures of
Consumption Programme. This together with a previous study of working
children, contributes to his more general interest in the social
significance of childhood and childhood identities.
