Jacinta Hawkins
Profile
Jacinta Hawkins is an assistant lecturer in Marketing at the
Department of Commerce, Massey University, Auckland, New Zealand. She
is currently a doctoral candidate with research interests in marketing
communications relating to health and behavioural issues, such as links
between food advertising and childhood obesity. Her PhD focuses on
public health policy and education interventions that may reduce
childhood obesity. She is currently studying the effectiveness of
various school-based interventions such as the ‘Health Promoting
Schools’ initiative. The results of the study will be used to
inform policy makers at central and local government levels so that
further development of such programmes maintain their focus and
effectiveness.
